Interview Research
The majority of research that I have conducted for this project has come from various teachers that I interviewed using a set of six open ended questions. These interviews were either conducted in person or through a Google Form, which can be found here. These questions were more focused on summative assessment, as that was initially the focus of my project, before I realized the important role that formative assessment also plays in this topic. The questions that I utilized, and the most informative and helpful responses, are featured below. The results of these questions varied greatly, depending on the school the teachers taught at, as well as the grade and subject(s) that they taught.
What type(s) of summative assessment do you frequently use? (both throughout a unit and at its conclusion)
Responses included:
What types of summative assessment do you find to be the LEAST effective? Why?
Responses included:
Where and how do you record/keep track of your summative assessments?

Reflective thoughts on the interviews:
As you can see, for some questions, answers were quite similar, and for others, they were completely opposite. This evidence seems to prove why assessment can be so difficult and challenging at times. The truth is, there is no correct way to assess your students, but the information on this page will hopefully alleviate any stress or confusion that new teachers are having about assessment, and give them some direction of where to start.
